About Hancockau
A Gold Coast institution built on what graduates achieve
Hancockau has been measuring its own effectiveness by graduate outcomes since the day it opened — not because a regulator required it, but because it is the only honest measure.
What Hancockau does, in plain terms
Hancockau is an education provider based in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The organisation offers structured post-secondary programs in Business, Digital Technology, Health Sciences, and Humanities to students aged 17 and over. Programs run for eight to fourteen months, depending on the subject area, and are delivered through a combination of on-campus sessions at our Gold Coast premises and scheduled live-online contact. Hancockau is not a university and does not grant bachelor's degrees; it delivers vocational and pathway programs that prepare students for employment, for professional certification, or for entry into undergraduate study at a partnered institution. That scope is deliberate: it is the range within which Hancockau can credibly demonstrate effectiveness. Students looking for a full degree program are referred — honestly and without an enrolment agenda — to the appropriate university or TAFE.
How the team works and what drives the approach
Hancockau was established in 2015 by a team of educators who had spent the preceding decade in Queensland secondary and TAFE settings and were consistently frustrated by the gap between what institutions taught and what graduates actually needed when they left. The founding team of seven has grown to a faculty and operations group of twenty-two, all based on the Gold Coast. Every faculty member holds both an academic qualification and a period of industry practice in their subject area — a policy that has remained non-negotiable since the organisation's first intake. The curriculum is reviewed in its entirety every 18 months against employer feedback, graduate surveys, and changes to relevant industry frameworks. Since 2018, Hancockau has completed four full curriculum cycles, each resulting in measurable improvements to the graduate placement rate tracked annually. The slate-professional environment inside our learning spaces is intentional: students work in a setting that looks and feels like a modern professional office rather than a traditional classroom, because the transition from education to work is smaller when the physical environment has never been too different. Results depend on consistent student engagement, and Hancockau does not guarantee employment or admission outcomes that lie outside its direct control.
“I visited three Gold Coast providers before choosing Hancockau. The others showed me glossy brochures. Hancockau showed me a spreadsheet of last year's graduate placements, broken down by program. I enrolled that afternoon.”
